In 1963, the U.S. government launched a covert space mission. The spaceship Ascension, carrying hundreds of men, women and children, were sent on a century-long voyage to populate a new world. Nearly 50 years into the journey, as they approach the point of no return, a mysterious murder of a young woman causes the ship’s population to question the true nature of their mission.

Some of the people aboard the Ascension include:

Viondra Denniger (Tricia Helfer) – A beautiful, manipulative and dangerous power broker on the Ascension.

William Denninger (Brian Van Holt) – captain of the ship and Viondra’s husband. A natural leader, William quickly rose through the ranks after playing a heroic role in a fire early in the spacecraft’s voyage. While his professional life is solid, William’s marriage to Viondra is anything but.

Juliet Bryce (Andrea Roth) – head doctor of the Ascension. Her relationship with her daughter, Nora (played by Jacqueline Byers) is difficult and strained.

Nora Bryce – is a young woman under intense pressure to follow in the family’s footsteps of being a doctor despite her own dreams.

First Officer Oren Gault (Brandon P. Bell) – Was born on the lower decks of the ship to maintenance workers and must investigate the aforementioned murder.

Chief Astronomer Emily Vanderhaus (Tiffany Lonsdale) – The older sister of the murder victim.

Take the Ascension aptitude test to see what role best suits you.

Ascension premieres Monday, December 15 at 9:00pm on Syfy.

They get some help from supernatural psychic Madame Leota (Jennifer Tilly). The Haunted Mansion is a fright-filled comedy adventure with hair-raising laughs. But is it scary? Not really. A lot of things make a surprise “Boo!” jump out at you to try to get the audience to jump, but adults especially should be able to predict when this will happen. What about the special effects? They are awesome! If you’ve been on the ride you will recognize the ghosts in the movie and get a good chuckle from them.

Out of the 12 new TV series premiering in April “Defiance” has to be the most anticipated. In the first ever of its kind, “Defiance” combines TV life with what happens in the computer game of the same name. Fans will play the game and somehow what happens in the game will be translated into a weekly TV program. Aliens have invaded Earth and have discovered how resilient humans are and a pact is made for the two to co-exist on the same planet.
