It’s a show geared towards teenagers and focuses on teenage sex. It seems everyone is “doing it.” (A much-loved phrase by Kelso on That 70’s Show.) I believe they are trying to bring awareness to teenagers regarding teenage sex and the consequences that could come with it. They even offer where teenagers can find help if they need it at the end of each show. The premise is good, but the show is losing it’s appeal with the overuse of the word sex. Is using that word over and over again supposed to get teenagers to tune in? The characters on the show are not afraid to speak what is on their mind. There are no secrets. Well, the complete title is “The Secret Life of the American Teenager” on ABC Family. I’ve yet to figure out what is so “secret” about anything on this show. Secret Life reads like a soap opera for teenagers, only no one is discreet. Everyone knows who everyone else is “doing it” with. The writers and producers must think that if they use the word “sex” enough times in an episode it will lure the teenagers to watch the show. Talk about keyword stuffing.
In the season finale, Amy has had her baby and now her mom is about to have her baby but we aren’t 100% sure who the father is. Apparently the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. Now Adrian, who is the girlfriend of the father of Amy’s baby, has moved in next door in order to keep tabs on her boyfriend Ricky. Only she’s broken up with her Ricky. Secret Life left us with plenty of questions for next season. Did Ben, Amy’s boyfriend, meet someone special in Italy on his summer trip? Did he or did he not “do it”? Will Jack and Grace stay together this time? Is that really George’s baby? Will he demand a paternity test? Will Ashley, Amy’s sister, hook up with a guy or has she seen enough by watching what her older sister has went through this past year? Maybe we’ll learn all the answers on the next season of Secret Life.
