Dumbest Stuff on Wheels

dumbest stuff on wheelsThanks for the article from Glenda Hanson

A show that I just really totally didn’t get until this past holiday season was Dumbest Stuff On Wheels. I am not even sure what channel it comes on but I will watch it if I scroll past it on my guide. I never usually watch things like this but my dad actually got me hooked on it. Over the Christmas holiday I was spending some time at their house and he was watching the show and just cracking up laughing. I decided to watch along with him to see what all the fuss was about. The show is basically video footage of hundreds of different people making bad decisions while on a wheeled vehicle be it a car, a four wheeler or roller blades. Lots of people make made mistakes on wheels evidently. I had no idea there were so many people out there who do really really dumb things on skate boards and dirt bikes. I even saw a guy crash in to a girl on his dirt bike after hitting a jump. Pretty sure they both went to the ER. Check out TVByDirect.com to find out about getting Dumbest Stuff on Wheels on your T.V.

Hearing About

Contributed by Alec Bates

When I heard about cannonsatellite.com from a colleague I thought “why?” Why would anyone need all those channels? But when my husband signed us up it didn’t take a week before I knew exactly why – the Travel Channel! It’s like you’re on vacation all the time but you’re actually just sitting at home in front of the TV…how can you beat that? You don’t have to take any time off work and it’s really cheap compared to travelling around the world, plus some of the personalities on the network remind me of my actual friends! I love that there are so many family friendly shows, too, and that we can watch with our kids and not have to worry about turning it off when they come in the room. Who would have thought I’d turn into a total travel nut after all this time? I never even used to like getting on airplanes! We’ve got an Italy trip planned for this summer and I can’t wait to do the travelling myself!

Great for Me

Guest post written by my buddy Royce Heath

Being here has been really great for me in so many ways but it’s also been tough moving away from everyone. I found this amazing home online a few months back and I jumped on it – I’ve always wanted to live in a smaller town and generally just get a slower pace of life. I love my family though and they’re so far away so I got wireless internet Lancaster to keep in touch and I’ve been talking to them on the phone a lot, too. I’ve actually been thinking about getting into real estate here since it’s so cheap and I’ve been going to open houses and all that to find out what’s right for me. I love old homes and there are certainly plenty of them around here and I think my next project may just be to buy one and fix it up the way I’d like to live in it now. There’s something to be said for the kind of life I’m laying out for myself and I’m happy with the changes.

Castle Enters the Heartbreak Hotel

castle gambleSam Siegel, the co-owner of the Sapphire Resort Casino in Atlantic City, is found murdered on an abandoned delivery dock in NYC. Wanting to see how Beckett performs as a detective without any outside influence, Captain Gates lets Castle tag along with Detectives Ryan and Esposito to Atlantic City. Castle is more excited about hitting the poker tables than he is of finding a murderer and hopes to get lucky playing the live tables as opposed to Olympic Poker  he can play online at home. Siegel, before he was killed, argued with his wife trying to get her to sign over property they co-owned in Queens.

At the Sapphire, the detectives and Castle get passed from one lead to another beginning with the concierge, Nadine, who introduces them to Siegel’s business partner, Charlie, who steers them toward Ralph, Sam’s driver. All this leads to the arrest of Ralph who was hiding out in New York, but he is soon cut free after pointing the cops in the direction of Daniel, the Sapphire’s head of security. Daniel provides security footage of Charlie punching Sam after he found out that Sam had stolen $10 million from the casino.

Turns out Sam didn’t do it. But Nadine’s parents live in the building in Queens that Sam and his wife own. So did Nadine take the money? Charlie gets tired of fielding questions from out of town cops and kicks the trio out of his casino before they can question Daniel about call she received from Nadine.

Castle comes up with the grand plan of infiltrating the casino as Elvis impersonators (of course there is an Elvis event going on in the casino, isn’t there always?). Daniel admits he and Nadine took the money as leverage to get Sam to turn over the building in Queens so her parents wouldn’t be evicted. Once they got the deed, the money would be returned. The big problem is the money wasn’t really Sam’s.

The money belonged to violent mob man Tommy, who Charlie and Sam borrowed from. In a meeting set up by Beckett, Daniel returns the money to Tommy and Tommy releases Nadine who he had taken hostage earlier. Tommy knew about the blackmail and gave Sam extra time to get his wife to sign over the property but Rebecca says she never made the deal. Tommy says different. Being desperate to want to pay back the mob, Sam had forced his wife to sign over the deed at gunpoint. Scared of forever being controlled by Sam, Rebecca killed him.

Waiting for Better 3D

Thanks to Wm Rowe

Have you ever met someone who has to know or have every new gadget available? Well, my husband is one of those people. If there is a new “toy”, he has to have it or at least see it. When DVD players first came out, he was probably first in line. You couldn’t find a DVD to play in them, but he owned a player. He was the first person I knew to have high def TV and now he is the only person I know interested in 3D television. To be honest, I do not even understand the appeal of 3D television. It seems like a fad. It is cool now because it is a little different, but it is not different enough to hang around. I am looking forward to the type of 3D they had in “Back to the Future” when Marty visits the future and gets eaten by the shark. For that 3D, you can definitely sign me up. I might even be ahead of my husband in line. Now, that would be a first.

Picking Through my Closet for Sorority Rush

Guest post written by Eve deGruy

Now that I’m all moved into my dorm room and have met a lot of the girls on my hall, I’ve decided that I’m going to go through with Greek rush. It’s something that I’ve thought about doing for a good part of the summer, but decided to just feel it out as I went. Well, some of the girls on my hall are rushing and they’ve kind of convinced me to go through with it. So that’s what I’m going to try and do.

But I don’t know the first thing about being in a Sorority, much less rushing in one, so I’ve been doing a lot of research on how to make the most of it and get success from it. While I was looking through some stuff online about that, I ran across the site http://CleartvBUNDLE.com. After I looked through it a little bit, I decided forward it to my mom because our internet service at home is just plain awful.

I found a lot of resources on tips for how to dress for the rush events. Of course, it will vary by school and what each Sorority is looking for. But it’s really nice to have a general sense of what to expect to wear.

Six Flags is Always Crowded in the Summertime

Great_American_Scream_Machine_(Six_Flags_Over_Georgia)_01There have been very few times I have visited Six Flags in the summertime when it did not seem to be overly crowded. Stanchions, velvet ropes, and barricades are all good items to use for crowd control as guests line up for their turn for some summertime fun on one of Six Flags famous rollercoasters. Barricades such as traffic cones are used in the parking lot to direct the driver to the next available parking spot so visitors don’t have to wander the parking lot looking for an empty parking space. A good way to tell how crowded it is in the park is by how long you have to stand in line for a ride while being herded through the stanchions like cattle. Without direction on how to get to the ride people visiting the park would have a hard time finding the entrance to their favorite ride. With belted stanchions guiding the way, (some can even be printed with a name or title or whatever you want) people know where the line begins and where it ends. Just because Six Flags is crowded doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy your day there. At least you’re not at work!

Sharing Tron with My Kids

The Author of this post is Velma Baird (Guest Poster)

tron_legacyBack when I was a kid, the original Tron movie was such a big deal for me that I was really excited when I heard about the new Tron Legacy movie. I was even happier when I found out that it had a PG radio so I could take my 8 and 10 year old to go and see it. But first I wanted to show them the original Tron movie.

I had a VHS tape of the movie from way back when, but I thought that it wouldn’t hurt to buy a DVD copy of it. I went online to try and find a good deal on one and while I was doing that I ran across some Satellite Internet Deals and signed up for one of them for our home internet service.

I think that the kids liked the original TRON even though they got kind of lost in the plot during the first one. But I think that they paid more attention during the new movie because it was just so neat to see it in the movies with all of the great visual effects and music. My 10 year old even said that he loved the music so I picked up the soundtrack for him for Christmas at the last minute.
