Dollhouse Finale a Snooze

dollhouse echo thumb_wallpaper_1600_7 We all knew, the writers included, that Dollhouse was going to be cancelled. So why didn’t the writers  take time to write a good ending? I found it hard to stay focused on what was going on from the moment they decided to fast forward ten years at the beginning of the episode. Apparently most everyone in the world has decided to become a doll and there is very little self-awareness in the world. Now it is (still) up to Echo and her previous Dollhouse Crew to try to restore order to the world by destroying the man and equipment that creates the dolls.

I never understood the premise behind the tech anyway. Why would anyone volunteer to have their mind erased and replaced by someone they are not aware of? It would be like going to sleep for 5 years and then waking up. Why would anything be different in 5 years? I would think any issues you had with yourself or someone else that caused you to volunteer to have a brain wipe would still be around in some form or another. The idea was a good one from a writers’ perspective. They could create a new character every week. They could have lovers or fighters or businessmen or pretend wives and husbands. The list was endless.

Eliza Dushku did a great job of portraying the lead Doll named Echo. She also produced the show. I also enjoyed seeing new faces (actors) on Dollhouse and I hope to see them all in something else in the near future.

24s’ CTU Goes High-Tech

24 chloe and dana Season eight of 24 shows us new faces and a new, high-tech CTU. Along with some new faces, CTU has new high-tech gadgetry on season 8 of Fox’s hit show 24. (Video tour of the new CTU.) The 2-tiered bullpen is where all the action takes place at CTU, with the brains of the unit being on the ground floor and the director’s office on the second floor giving him a bird’s eye view of everything that is going on. CTU now has eyes in the sky over New York in the form of surveillance drones; workstations have a cleaner, cooler look with video screens inserted below the glass tops; and palm readers are used to access elevators and the artillery room. Fringe’s “Johari Window” is a Stand-Alone Episode

Walter Bishop Appearances can deceive as is depicted in Fringe’s latest episode, Johari Window. And, of course, it has something to do with past experiments the Dr. Bishop was involved in. The deformed people of a small town have found a way to mask their deformities from the rest of the world, which is quite alright, because it is experiments that were done on them long ago that caused the deformities to begin with. But the masking comes undone if the people leave the town. Will their secret remain safe? Find out HERE.

Fringe Having a Tough Time on New Night

fringe It’s no secret that “Fringe” has been struggling since Fox decided to move them into a different timeslot. Tell me, can you name ONE show that has done good by being moved to a different day and time? The fact that the show was preempted by baseball for 2 weeks didn’t help matters either. Boss J.J. Abrams says that although ratings are low, Fox is still committed to the show. Plus, everyone is in agreement that “Fringe” is airing their most creative season yet.

“The mood on set and in the writer’s room is as good as the ratings are bad, which is to say, wonderful,” Abrams tells Ausiello. “Luckily, Fox has been insanely supportive, for which we are deeply grateful.” It looks like “Fringe” is in no immediate danger of getting axed to the TV graveyard. An Alien on Fringe?

Fringe boss Phillip Broyles meets up with an “old friend” in Fringe’s “Earthling.” Most of Fringe is based on science that is “out-there” – science that is really hard to grasp and believe. But this episode introduces to us an alien that apparently a Russian cosmonaut brought back from space. Broyles had a previous encounter with the alien 4 years ago in which he resolved to get to the bottom. That determination also resulted in his divorce. The cosmonaut’s brother promised the killings would stop if only the FBI could solve a complex physics equation that was far too complicated for the FBI. “Dollhouse” Pulled During Sweeps

Fox confirms that Dollhouse will be off the air for the November sweeps. It will return with new episodes on December 4.

Dollhouse is much like Lost – if you don’t follow it from the beginning it is hard to follow the storyline. But luckily all past episodes of Dollhouse are available to watch online. FOX buried Dollhouse on Fridays when most people aren’t watching TV (Friday Night High School football anyone?) and they have not promoted it like they should. History shows that when a show is moved from its regular timeslot to a “new and better” timeslot they get lost in the shuffle. Dollhouse is a fantastic show and one of the best shows on television. Too bad most people don’t even know about it.

Meanwhile, look for Summer Glau (Sarah Connor Chronicles) this Friday, October 30 as she makes her debut as Bennett Halverson in what will be a re-occurring role on the show.

“Fringe” Season Premiere

Fringe continues to explore the unexplained phenomena and terrifying occurrences linked throughout the world – known simply as “The Pattern” – in pursuit of a larger, more shocking truth. Dr. Walter Bishop, once hailed as one of the most brilliant scientific minds of his generation, understands the peril and promise of fringe science better than any other. Walter supplies the scientific genius and technological wizardry needed to explore The Pattern – a series of events that disturbingly often trace back to Walter’s own scientific explorations. Sadly, his shattered memory can only tell him fragments of the real story.
