Chuck Goes on his First Solo Mission to Paris While Morgan Tames Disgruntled Buy More Employees in “Chuck Versus First Class”

In Chuck Versus First Class, Special Agent Shaw (Brandon Routh) decides Chuck (Zachary Levi) is ready to cut the Casey (Adam Baldwin) and Sarah (Yvonne Strahovski) umbilical cord and go on his first solo mission to Paris. Casey and Sarah strongly disagree, and it turns out they are right because when Chuck sees the first signs of trouble his first instinct is to call Sarah or Casey for help. READ MORE HERE

So you think Chuck is a no-guts, scardy-cat, spy? When the bad guys from The Ring mistakenly kidnap Chuck’s brother-in-law, Devon (better known as Awesome), Chuck finds out what it’s like to be Sarah and Casey as he becomes Awesome’s handler through it all. The Ring gives Awesome a cellphone with an earpiece and tells him to wait for instructions. The earpiece has a bomb implanted in it that will explode if Awesome takes it off. Chuck reluctantly agrees that the best way to catch the guys behind this plot is to let Awesome play it out. We see how well Chuck has really adapted to the spy life as he plays Awesome’s handler and Awesome channels the old Chuck and freaks out at every little thing that happens. Before being kidnapped, Awesome thought it would be cool to be a spy and do cool spy stuff. After all this, he’s happy just to stay home and play doctor.

Chuck 2.0
After a close call of being cancelled after last season, Chuck returned to NBC with a special 2-hour preview on Sunday, January 10th, and then returned to his regular time slot on Mondays at 8PM. Season 3 shows us a new, improved Chuck 2.0! The geeky, nerd, didn’t-want-to-be-a-spy-but-now-I-do Chuck has went and gotten the new upgraded Intersect 2.0 uploaded into his head. Chuck can now flash on how to do things such as kung fu, perform medical procedures, or play in a mariachi band and much more! This will open a whole new world to the new Chuck. The only problem, which is an old problem, is that Chuck still cannot flash at will (which is blamed on him being too emotional), so he still finds himself in predicaments that he can’t get himself out of – or if he does, it’s just by the hair of his chinny, chin, chin. The new Chuck looks cleaner – not quite as geeky or scruffy looking. He almost looks like a real spy. But he did fail spy school. (Blame it on a fear of heights.)

Will Chuck Replace Southland?
The Hollywood Reporter has reported that Southland that was set to begin Season 2 October 23 on NBC has been cancelled. I don’t know if this is a first or not – to be cancelled even before you begin. NBC kept pushing the air date for Southland further back until they pushed the right out the door. According to the network, Southland was “too dark and gritty” for broadcast, as if viewers are too fragile to handle an adult show. Given the show’s ratings last season, their decision was probably the correct one and the network likely expedited the inevitable. It’s just as well. Southland was a mediocre show at best and was something to watch when there was nothing on TV to watch. NBC’s current plans have Dateline NBC airing in the space left by Southland‘s demise.
Rumors are running rampant that the premiere date for Chuck will be fast forwarded and take the place of “Southland/Dateline.” This comes from Entertainment Weekly’s Michael Ausiello who states that his “moles” inside NBC have told him the rumors are true about the early return of Chuck. This is really great news for Chuck fans that had to wait through a nervous couple of months last spring to find out if Chuck would even be brought back by NBC for another season. Thanks to Subway Restaurants, Chuck was renewed for at least half a season (13 episodes), but they currently aren’t scheduled to air until after the Olympics in March 2010. But wait – another rumor is that Chuck could return to its Monday night timeslot at 9:00 pm, which is bad news for Trauma which is currently airing at that time. It could be that NBC will once again play like a juggler and start juggling shows around – like moving Trauma to the original Friday night slot reserved for Southland and moving Chuck back to their original timeslot on Monday evenings. Bad move. When will they learn that viewers get accustomed to a show being on at a certain time and when that show is no longer there in the timeslot the viewer has become accustomed to they automatically assume it has been cancelled? We’ve seen this move before and in all the juggling going on something eventually gets dropped.
If Chuck does return earlier rather than later this opens the strong possibility for more episodes being ordered by NBC. The NBC insiders (aka “moles”) that have viewed the first four of the thirteen episodes say that season 3 is the best yet for Chuck. (Why wouldn’t they say that? They do work for NBC.) As we enter Season 3, Morgan (Joshua Gomez) has quit the Buy More and is pursuing his Hawaiian hibachi-chef dream. This leaves Emmett (Tony Hale) completely in control of the Buy More which doesn’t seem to be doing too well. And Chuck is learning how to control his newly found ninja skills. We’ll just have to tune in to see what happens. In the meantime, all you Chuck fans keep your eyes and ears open as to when Season 3 will air. It could be as early as two weeks away or 5 months away.

Chuck Bartowskii (Zachary Levi) has a crush on his agent, Sarah Walker (Yvonne Strahovski), who’s job is to protect him. Strahovski told SciFi Wire that things between Chuck and Sarah will change this season. How will the dynamics change? She didn’t let that cat out of the bag. We’ll just have to stay tuned after the Olympics. [Source: SciFi Wire]
