“Doctor Who” Season 7 Trailer

Doctor Who castEarlier this week the trailer for season 7 of “Doctor Who” was released? After viewing it, I have five observations:

Dinosaurs on a spaceship!

Baby Weeping Angels?

Cowboys!

A Dalek empire destroyed by who? – The Doctor or Amy?

Do Rory and Amy survive?

The prehistoric predators aren’t the only fearsome things the Time Lord faces this season – it’s never just ‘one’ thing. Who are the large robots who say to The Doctor, “We’re very cross with you.”? By the looks of the trailer, it appears that Amy Pond (Karen Gillan) and Rory’s (Arthur Darvill) last few journey’s with The Doctor (Matt Smith) will be rough ones. Sadly, Gillan and Darvill are only set to appear in the first five episodes of the season before Jenna-Louise Coleman takes over as the Doctor’s newest companion. The trailer provides ample glimpses into trio’s final days together, including a rather cryptic image of The Doctor carrying an apparently unconscious (or worse) Amy Pond. With destroyed Daleks all around them, Rory asks, “Who killed all the Daleks?” The Doctor responds, “Who do you think?” suggesting it might have been Amy. Do you think they’d really kill off the beloved redhead? Click here to watch the full-trailer and then share your thoughts below.

“Doctor Who” Gets a New Companion This Summer

dr who jenna-louise1Farewell Amy Pond (Karen Gillan) and Rory (Arthur Darvill).

Later this year, Jenna-Louise Coleman will become The Doctor’s (Matt Smith) new sweater-wearing companion on Doctor Who. Coleman will replace Karen Gillan, who, in addition to Arthur Darvill, will make a “heartbreaking departure after one final series of roller-coaster voyages.”

Here, Karen and Matt give advice to the new girl.

“It’s not often The Doctor meets someone who can talk even faster than he does, but it’s about to happen Jenna is going to lead him on his merriest dance yet,” executive producer Steven Moffat said of the new character. “Who she’s playing, how The Doctor meets her, and even where he finds her, are all part of one of the biggest mysteries the Time Lord ever encounters. Even by The Doctor’s standards, this isn’t your usual boy meets girl.”

What do you think of the new companion?

New Logo Revealed for “Doctor Who”

When the new series of Doctor Who begins in 2010 there’ll be a new Doctor, a new companion and a new logo. The new version (on the official site) ditches the spinning red & yellow elliptical shape of recent years for a more classic blue/purple color scheme and TARDIS-inspired abbreviation. Video of the new logo in motion is out below:

The arrival of a new cast and crew isn’t the only change to one of the BBC’s biggest franchises, the entire show is getting all sorts of updates which actually seem to be taking a slightly retro-theme. Along with a new TARDIS exterior (more like the Police Box of the classic series), interior (rumored to be a marble, silver & gold finish and consist of multiple rooms),

Finally, there’s still no official times and dates announced as yet for the remaining three Fall/Holiday 2009 specials starring David Tennant in his last adventures (though mid-November, Xmas & New Years Day are still the best guesses). Tennant however will appear in character and play a significant role in a two-part episode of the spin-off series “The Sarah Jane Adventures” on October 29th & 30th.
