The only comic book I’ve ever read is Watchmen – and that’s actually a graphic novel – so I had never heard of the Scott Pilgrim comic books. But once my younger brother told me that Michael Cera was starring as the hero that has to battle the seven evil exes of the girl he’s trying to win over, I was on board and excited for it.
I’m going to see it this weekend and can’t wait! I love anything with Michael Cera in it back to “Arrested Development” and feel like he’s just really starting to hit his stride as an actor. (I actually use my directv internet wildblue to watch a lot of the episodes). Hopefully he’ll be around for a long time, which I would be really surprised if that ended up not being the case.
The movie is supposed to look like old school arcade video games with the exes acting like bosses to fight. Now if I can just convince my friends to go with me, which might be a little tough because they’re not in the least bit interested. I looked up movie times on my wildblue wireless internet and sent a link to a few of them suggesting that we go. So far I haven’t had any interest from them.

I watch movies on demand on satellite tv all the time. It is a collection of instant movies with a variety of selections to choose from. New release movies can be viewed by a simple order process and then sit back and enjoy the movie.
The most recent movie I viewed was John Cameron’s Avatar. “Epic” does not do this movie justice. With a cast starring Sam Worthington, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, and Michelle Rodriguez, Avatar is a heroic tale with unexpected twists. The aspect of the movie that I found most appealing was the fact that the hero, Jake Sully, was reluctant to be the hero he was deemed to be. Sully is a crippled war-time vet that was sent into a military run time warp to a place known as Pandora. This tale is one of the better ones compared to newer movies released lately. It provides a new story line about fighting for what you believe in. The graphics of this movie are flawless with excellent colors and action scenes. It is science fiction meets romance meets action packed movie all in one. The audience for this movie can find an element that is suitable for them no matter what genre you prefer.
Movies on demand provide quality movies such as this that have excellent plots, appealing themes, relate-able characters and award-winning casts.

In a day and age when going to the movie theater is getting excruciatingly annoying. Finding the time to drive to the theater, finding a parking place and then once you get into the theater you deal with the escalating cost of the price of admission and the popcorn and sodas. That’s why I think the invention that allows people to watch movies on demand in the comfort of your own home might have been created with me in mind. Just lately I settled in to watch Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince on satellite tv pay per view in Wichita with my bowl of popcorn which cost me just $1.25 and a bottle of soda that cost me $1.00 at the local grocery store.
This latest episode of Harry Potter’s endeavors was the darkest yet and treated Harry, Hermione and Ron to their most mature and unhappy adventure yet. Not only did the group all find romantic love (not with each other, or rather not everyone found romantic love with each other) but they also had to endure great loss with the death of Dumbledore. The true slip into the dark side that Malfoy takes is also an interesting step to watch. Before he was just a jerk, now he’s actually gone over to evil and their battles in future editions shall be something to watch. This movie was truly the best of the Harry Potter series.

Get Smurf’d with Real Life Smurfs in 3D
In the summer of 2011, Columbia, a Sony Pictures Entertainment Company, Sony Animation and The K Entertainment Company bring you The Smurfs in 3D. Those loveable blue Smurfs look almost real in 3D and they will pop right off the screen at you in their very own live-action/computer animated feature film. Below Neil Patrick Harris introduces the first teaser trailer starring the new digital Smurfs.
The Smurfs arch-enemy Gargamel (Hank Azaria) invades the Smurfs village and sends them scurrying for cover in the forest where they accidently find a magical portal that sends them to Central Park New York. A couple of humans (Harris and Jayma Mays from “Glee”) befriend Papa Smurf, Clumsy, Grouchy, Brainy, Gutsy and Smurfette and try to help them find a way back home. Dealing with the wilds of Manhattan is bad enough, but Gargamel has followed them there and is still hunting for the Smurfs.
In addition to the human actors — Sofia Vergara from "Modern Family" also plays a role. The Smurfs are voiced by a wide range of comedic talents including legendary standup Jonathan Winters as Papa Smurf, George Lopez is Grouchy Smurf, Jeff Foxworthy is Handy Smurf, Wolfgang Puck is Chef Smurf, "SNL’s" Fred Armisen is Brainy Smurf, and Paul Reubens (aka Pee Wee Herman) voices Jokey Smurf. Plus, pop superstar Katy Perry makes her movie debut as the voice of Smurfette.
The Smurfs will be smurfing their way onto the big screen on August 3, 2011.

The remake of the Karate Kid is making big headlines with Will Smith’s son Jaden playing the lead role alongside the famous Jackie Chan. I can’t wait to go see this on the big screen, but first I’d like to refresh my memory by revisiting the original Karate Kid so I can compare the two. By purchasing DIRECTV packages, cable packages or Dish packages I should be able to easily find this classic movie and more within all of the channels these packages provide.
The Karate Kid is an old movie made back in 1984, but a classic one nonetheless. It is incredibly cheesy, delightful and you can’t help but like the beloved characters. I do not know anyone who does not appreciate lessons learned by the ever peaceful Mr. Miyagi. Who can forget the wax on wax off lessons Mr. Miyagi taught Daniel?
The plot of the new Karate Kid (aka The Kung Fu Kid) has changed ever so slightly. In the original a young white male named Daniel (Ralph Macchio) gets beat up in Brooklyn, but in the remake it’s a younger black male named Dre (Jaden Smith) living in China who gets beat upon. Daniel is befriended by an old Chinese man, Mr. Kesuke Miyagi (Pat Morita), who teaches him karate and then enters him in a tournament, while Dre is also befriended by Mr. Miyagi (Jackie Chan) who teaches him kung fu, not karate as the title suggests.
In true Karate Kid tradition, there has to be an ultimate showdown towards the end of the movie. I can’t reveal everything to you otherwise it would be giving away the whole ending, so I suggest you watch this movie as soon as possible. Grab some popcorn, some soda, and the rest of your family and enjoy this family film that has been around for years, then treat yourself and your family to the new, hip Karate Kid III at your local theater.

“Who ya gonna call?” You know the answer – Ghostbusters! Ghostbusters was a favorite in the 1980’s and is said to be coming back with a third installation of the big screen hit in 2012!
Sigourney Weaver and Annie Potts are rumored to be on board to return as Dana Barrett and Janine Melnitz respectively. It has not yet been confirmed that Rick Moranis will return as Louis Tully. Returning to reprise their roles as a part of the original Ghostbusters squad are Dan Aykroyd (Dr, Ray Stantz), Bill Murray (Dr. Peter Venkman), Harold Ramis (Dr. Egon Spengler) and Ernie Hudson (Winston Zeddemore). Aykroyd is enthused about its premise of a new generation of Ghostbusters taking over the duties of the aging team and is hoping for a five-member “new generation” team with several female members. According to IMDB, the new generation of Ghostbusters may include stars Anna Farris and Eliza Dushku (Dollhouse).
The Ghostbusters 3 script is written by Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky with Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis in charge of characters and directed by Ivan Reitman.

On satellite tv you can catch the darndest flicks. You know what I saw last weekend? You won’t guess. You really won’t. I saw the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie, complete with Casey Jones in a hockey mask. I cannot tell you how freakin’ excited I was. No, I did not watch the whole thing. I was just excited to see it broadcasted. I am not a freak. I just can’t believe those movies come up on satellite. You can see almost anything man. Okay, I admit, I watched a chunk of it for purely nostalgic reasons. I mean, that is the first movie I ever went to a movie theater to see. And, I don’t know how they did it, but those turtles look really good for the time the movie was made in. What was it, the late 80′s? And April is totally hot for an older woman. And it is totally clear that she has it for Raphael and wants to make little homo-sapiturtles. Also, did anyone ever get to the bottom of who was the actual leader? Leonardo is in the cartoon. Believe me. I remember. But the movie is accompanied by some rap that declares Raphael is the leader, and I must say, I could never decide whether or not I accepted this as true. I think that rapper just liked how off the handle Raphael was and tried to anoint him the leader by stating it was so in an eternal piece of music. I honestly don’t care this much about any of this!
OMG how rightfully judgmental readers should be right now! Lesson learned. Childhood memories run strong through us I guess.
