 Nathan Fillion in "Firefly"
One of my favorite science fiction shows to watch on satellite TV is Firefly. I got satellite TV after researching Dish vs Direct TV. Created by Joss Whedon, architect of such shows as Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel, Firefly follows the exploits of a rag tag band of mercenaries – outlaws, brigands, and other hangers-on – as they complete jobs throughout the galaxy for cold, hard cash. Led by Captain Malcolm (“Mal”) Reynolds, played by Nathan Fillion, the crew of the ship Serenity find themselves in the ‘frontier’ of the galaxy, dogged by the hated “Alliance.”
What is so unique about this show is the mixture of “old western” with straight-up “sci-fi” themes. Whedon has much experience with this genre bending, particular with Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and the Firefly universe is no different. It captures the pioneering aspect of the Old West with the high technology of a futuristic (26th century) galactic civilization.
Despite the show’s brilliance, Fox canceled it after one season, to die-hard fans’ dismay. These “brown shirts” engaged in a vigorous campaign to bring the show back. While new episodes never returned to network TV, the fan response did allow Joss and Co. to make a Firefly feature film! Named “Serenity,” this movie filled in many of the blanks left by the TV show, and nicely sent off the characters we know and love. Still, reruns air often, and I make sure to catch them whenever I can.

I love to watch The Ellen DeGeneres Show on my DIRECTV in Texas. Her talk show is so funny. She always has great guests on there. During American Idol, she always puts whoever was kicked off on her show. She has a little segment where the audience dances. It is so funny when she dances down the aisles. This show is the only talk show that I watch almost everyday. It puts me in a good mood and she is so funny. I also love listening to her talk about how much she is in love with Portia her wife. They get along really well and just make a great couple. This show is the type that just puts a smile on my face anytime that I watch it. I love having something like this on every morning when I get out of bed. I can lay around in my pajamas and enjoy it while the kids watch cartoons in the other room. It is a great way to start out any day for me honestly.

The only comic book I’ve ever read is Watchmen – and that’s actually a graphic novel – so I had never heard of the Scott Pilgrim comic books. But once my younger brother told me that Michael Cera was starring as the hero that has to battle the seven evil exes of the girl he’s trying to win over, I was on board and excited for it.
I’m going to see it this weekend and can’t wait! I love anything with Michael Cera in it back to “Arrested Development” and feel like he’s just really starting to hit his stride as an actor. (I actually use my directv internet wildblue to watch a lot of the episodes). Hopefully he’ll be around for a long time, which I would be really surprised if that ended up not being the case.
The movie is supposed to look like old school arcade video games with the exes acting like bosses to fight. Now if I can just convince my friends to go with me, which might be a little tough because they’re not in the least bit interested. I looked up movie times on my wildblue wireless internet and sent a link to a few of them suggesting that we go. So far I haven’t had any interest from them.

Have you ever been on a road trip to a rock concert when suddenly your change oil light comes on in your Acura Integra? This recently happened to me while I was driving to a concert in Houston, Texas but to avoid going to just any old Houston auto repair store I instead checked online with Repair Pal first to get an estimate and the best place to go to get an oil change and tune up after me and my friends enjoyed the concert. It is easy to get an auto repair estimate online. Just select the make, model and year of your car, then select the type of service your car needs. Main services to choose from include scheduled maintenance, maintenance, brakes, drive train, engine, exhaust & emissions, electrical & lights, suspension & steering, and heating & air conditioning. These main services have numerous subheadings to choose from. Once you choose the service you require, key in the local zip code and Whoop – There It Is! – a repair or service price estimate pops up along with a map with suggested auto repair stores in your local area. It was easy-breezy and I like that.

I feel lucky. Why? Because I’m able to watch television during the day. Since I work at night, I get to enjoy peace, quiet, and Direct TV during the day. Don’t worry, I find time to sleep in-between my late shift and lunch. I watch a whole lot of daytime television, but my favorite show would have to be Bait Car. I think this is also on my Satellite TV at night, but I’m not sure. As long as it’s on when I’m off, I’m happy.
If you’re not familiar with Bait Car, the show is exactly as the title sounds. The police place vehicles in high car theft areas. They have a tracking device on the car, a shut-off switch on the engine, and undercover cops all over the place. These undercover cops sit and wait until someone comes along and shows an interest in the car. It’s always interesting to watch these thieves operate. They think they’re taking every precaution necessary and have no idea they’re being filmed. When they’re arrested, they come up with some of the most outlandish stories of all time. It’s a little disturbing to see how easy it is for some people to lie. Prior to being arrested and once these criminals are in the car, they get all excited about their new ride. Only a few seconds later, sirens are blasting and they’re panicking. This is by far my favorite part of the show.

Tom Hanks is my favorite actor of all time. Anytime a movie of his come on a channel that my cable TV offers I have to watch it. My very favorite chick flick of his is ‘You’ve Got Mail’. It combines two of my favorite things, a love of books and the internet, not to mention New York in the Fall. When I first watched it, I thought it was so obvious when she met Joe Fox that he was the guy she had been chatting with, and how could she not know that too. I found it amusing that they both led the same life separately and never even knew. I wanted for them to get along so badly, and her character was so stubborn for the longest time that I thought it might not happen, then he charmed her.
Maybe it’s because I’ve seen so many movies with Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan that I feel they should be together, and am always glad that they end up that way in the end, or perhaps that Tom Hanks acting truly is that great, I always feel that she should just know that he’s the one from the start. They are great classics and I can watch them over and over. I know most of the words to nearly all of his movies, and I can’t honestly say that I’ve seen one with him in it that made me think, "Well that sucked".

I eat at Panera Bread at least once a week, and never forget to arm my adt security cameras before going out. I love eating at Panera Bread because the staff is courteous and kind, the food is always prepared quickly, and the taste is magnificent. I have eaten there often and frequently return for the ambiance, affordability and quality of the food. The turkey and artichoke sandwich is one of my personal favorites. The crunchiness of the panini melds perfectly with the soft texture and smoky flavor of the caramelized onions. The spinach and artichokes give the panini a crisp, tart flavor, and the turkey is fresh and seasoned to perfection. The freshness of the food, the affordability, and the quickness of preparation aren’t the only reasons I eat at Panera Bread. The lively atmosphere and soothing Classical music played in the background always cheer me up. I can linger in my booth as long as I want to, or leave in 15 minutes. The ordering lines can become quite long, but there is never a wait for you food, as there is at similar restaurants. I hope you enjoy eating at Panera as much as I do!

When I heard on the radio that the annual Kansas City Rockfest concert tickets were on sale, I was so excited. Especially when they announced the line up, and it included my favorite band Papa Roach. I wanted to see them so bad that I rushed to my home computer and logged onto the internet to purchase my tickets. What made ordering the tickets online so easy was that I bundle clear internet with tv so its cheaper and the internet is lightening fast. Rockfest is presented by Kansas City’s radio station 98.9 The Rock, and takes place at Liberty Memorial in downtown Kansas City.
The day of the concert it rained all day. This didn’t spoil the fun however, because it was a rain or shine event. The rain made the ground muddy, but this did not stop over 50,000 people from having the time of their lives! People rocked out to many bands including Godsmack, Seether, Three Days Grace, and of course Papa Roach. I got to hear my favorite singer of all time, Jacoby Shaddix (front man for Papa Roach) sing his heart out. He sounded so amazing, and looked very nice too! He had the fans wound up and having a great time!
The best part about the entire concert is that Jacoby and the rest of the band Papa Roach were signing autographs after their performance! My friends and I all got a special signature from Jacoby Shaddix! This was the summer event of a lifetime that I will never forget.

I can’t remember a prime-time show that I have ever gotten quite as excited about as The Big Bang Theory. The quirky plot lines and ridiculously over the top acting just keeps me in stitches. The at times deft handling of scientific topics, and at other times daft summarization of topics, is always fun to see attempted in a popular sitcom. I especially enjoy watching the interaction of Sheldon and Leonard with their neighbor, Penny. It’s so funny to see Sheldon’s apathy toward social convention grate with her, and Leonard’s awkwardness shine through despite the best of attempts.
Raj and Howard are great too. Always around just enough to provides laughs, but not so much that I get bored with them. The occasionally crazy relationships, Raj’s inability to speak to women, all very, very funny. The general handling of misplaced stereotypes as a source of jest also keeps me amused throughout the all too short half an hour episodes. I’m so excited they’re moving the show to Thursdays, I don’t know what I would do without satellite TV to watch these guys. Definitely one of my favorite shows, it’s like Seinfeld, but funny. I can’t wait for the fall for the next season to start.

I have been watching the reality show America’s Got Talent recently and I have to say that the show is not as bad as I had pre-judged it to be. Some of the people on the show really do have talent and I like the judges. Some people compare Piers to Simon Cowell but I do not think that is really fair. He might be a little brash but I think it is better to nip these people in the bud so they do not waste a lot of time doing something they are not good at. That way they can move on to find something that they actually are good at, and begin to excel. Perhaps they can find out that they have a talent that they would have never guessed they had. Anyway, I think Simon Cowell is much too harsh to compare Piers to him. We just got satellite TV from www.expertsatellite.com and I love the picture. Unfortunately, now I can see some of these acts much too clearly for my taste. I think Howie Mandel is doing a good job. I was not sure how I would like him on this show, but he is by far my favorite judge now.
